Recurring billing
Scope and Agreement
These Subscription Terms apply when you buy, start, redeem, renew, manage, or cancel a paid Direct Control Lab subscription through the web, Stripe Checkout, Apple purchase flows, offer codes, promotional offers, or another approved billing surface.
They supplement the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, App License Terms, and any purchase sheet, checkout page, receipt, invoice, or renewal notice shown to you at the time of purchase. If a checkout screen shows different price, currency, tax, promotion, or renewal details, that checkout screen controls for that transaction.
Price and duration
Current Public Plans
The current public plans are monthly access for $8 per month and yearly access for $80 per year, unless a different price, currency, tax amount, offer, or regional price is shown at checkout.
Monthly billing at $8 for 12 months equals $96. Yearly billing at $80 saves $16 compared with twelve monthly payments, which is equivalent to two months free.
Monthly
$8 per month before applicable taxes, automatically renewing monthly until canceled.
Yearly
$80 per year before applicable taxes, automatically renewing yearly until canceled. The yearly plan saves $16 compared with paying $8 monthly for 12 months.
Included access
Paid plans are intended to unlock Direct Control Lab remote-control product access, host and controller workflows, direct peer sessions where available, relay fallback where available, diagnostics, and supported app access according to the plan shown at purchase.
Taxes and fees
Taxes, currency conversion, bank fees, platform fees, or regional price differences may apply and may be shown separately by the checkout provider.
Consent record
Auto-Renewal and Affirmative Consent
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date. By completing checkout, you authorize the billing provider to charge the payment method on file for the selected plan, applicable taxes, and future renewals until cancellation.
The purchase flow should clearly show the subscription name, plan interval, renewal price, billing frequency, cancellation method, and links to the Terms, Privacy Policy, and these Subscription Terms before payment is completed.
- We aim to keep a record of the plan selected, displayed price, billing interval, checkout timestamp, checkout provider, transaction or session ID, and legal document version associated with the purchase.
- You should not complete checkout unless you understand that the plan renews automatically and that cancellation stops future renewals rather than automatically refunding the current paid period.
- If a trial, discount, offer code, or promotional price applies, the checkout surface should disclose the promotional period, the post-promotion renewal price, and any eligibility limits.
- If local law requires an additional checkbox, acknowledgment, reminder, or consent step, the applicable checkout or platform flow should provide it.
Purchase evidence
Checkout, Receipts, and Billing Records
After a successful purchase, you should receive a receipt, invoice, purchase confirmation, or billing record from the provider that processed the transaction. Keep that record because it may be needed for support, account recovery, refund review, chargeback review, tax records, or cancellation help.
Web checkout
Web subscriptions may be processed by Stripe. Stripe may send receipts, invoices, payment method update links, tax records, chargeback notices, and billing portal links.
Apple purchases
Apple subscriptions are processed by Apple. Apple manages receipts, renewal settings, refunds, family sharing where available, price-change consent, and subscription status through the user's Apple account.
Support records
For billing support, include the account email, purchase platform, receipt ID, checkout session ID, invoice ID, subscription ID, transaction ID, and approximate purchase date if available.
Privacy
We do not receive or store full payment card numbers from Apple or Stripe. Payment data is handled according to the Privacy Policy and the payment provider's policies.
Stop future charges
Cancellation and Online Self-Service
You may cancel renewal at any time through the billing surface that processed the purchase. Cancellation stops future renewal charges. Unless required by law or allowed by the billing provider, cancellation does not automatically create a refund or credit for the current billing period.
For web subscriptions, start at https://compcontroll.org/billing. If the self-service billing portal cannot locate your subscription, contact support@compcontroll.org and request cancellation. We will not require you to call a phone number or visit a physical location to cancel a subscription that was started online.
- Web subscriptions should provide a direct billing portal, receipt link, or support-assisted cancellation path.
- Apple subscriptions must be canceled through Apple account subscription settings.
- Retention offers, surveys, or discount offers may be shown where lawful, but they should not block a direct cancellation path.
- If you cancel, access generally continues until the end of the paid period unless the checkout provider, platform rules, or applicable law requires a different result.
- Deleting your Direct Control Lab account does not automatically cancel a subscription purchased through Apple or another external billing provider.
Required notices
Renewal, Trial, and Price-Change Notices
Some jurisdictions require renewal reminders, trial-conversion notices, discount-expiration notices, or price-change notices for automatically renewing subscriptions. We intend to use the most protective reasonable notice standard for the public plans unless a billing provider handles the notice directly.
Yearly renewal
For yearly web subscriptions, send a renewal reminder before the renewal date where required, with the plan name, renewal price, renewal date, cancellation method, and support contact.
Trial or discount conversion
For free trials or discounted periods that convert to paid renewal, send a pre-conversion notice where required, with the conversion date, post-offer price, and cancellation method.
Price changes
If a renewal price increases or material billing terms change, provide advance notice and obtain consent where required by law or by the billing provider.
Billing failures
If a payment fails, the billing provider may send dunning emails, payment update links, grace-period notices, or cancellation notices.
Money movement
Refunds, Credits, and Disputes
Refund rights vary by location, billing provider, platform, payment method, and offer. We review refund requests in good faith and will provide refunds or credits where required by law, required by a billing provider, or approved under our support process.
- Apple refund requests are handled by Apple through Apple's refund process.
- Web refund requests may be reviewed through Stripe records, support records, subscription status, service availability, fraud signals, and applicable law.
- Chargebacks and payment disputes may require us to share purchase records, receipts, account status, usage records, cancellation records, and support history with the payment processor or card network.
- A canceled subscription may remain active through the paid period unless an immediate cancellation, refund, fraud action, or legal requirement applies.
Account status
Access, Entitlements, and Restore Purchases
Subscription access may depend on account login, device permissions, platform receipt validation, Stripe subscription status, Apple transaction status, network availability, and fraud or abuse controls.
If purchase access is missing, use the restore-purchase control in the app where available, use the web billing portal for web purchases, or contact support with the receipt or transaction details.
- Access may pause or end if a subscription expires, is canceled, is refunded, enters billing retry beyond any grace period, is charged back, or is associated with fraud or abuse.
- A billing provider's active subscription status does not override the Acceptable Use rules in the Terms of Service.
- If a service outage materially affects paid access, we may provide a reasonable extension, credit, refund, or support remedy where appropriate.
Teams and employers
Business Use and Authorized Buyers
If you buy a subscription for a company, client, school, employer, or other organization, you represent that you are authorized to make the purchase and bind that organization to the applicable terms.
The purchasing organization is responsible for user notices, workplace monitoring rules, device-owner permissions, customer support permissions, and payment authorization for organizational use.
Updates
Changes to Subscription Terms
We may update these Subscription Terms when plans, billing providers, laws, taxes, platform rules, or product features change. Material changes to existing paid subscriptions will be handled with notice, consent, cancellation rights, or grandfathering where required by law or by the billing provider.
The date at the top of this page shows when these Subscription Terms were last updated.
